COVID-19 Update

COVID-19 Update

29th March 2021 COVID UPDATE

Please be informed of the latest information related to the reported COVID cases in Brisbane and Byron Bay;

Brisbane Transmissions: We will be guided by advice from NSW Health.

The current advice from DOE is that if staff or students have been in the identified Brisbane city area recently,there are three key messages:

  1. If a person has returned from Greater Brisbane, which includes Brisbane, Logan, Moreton Bay, Ipswich and Redland Local Government Areas since 20 March 2021 must comply with the Stay at Home Order consistent with those living in those areas in QLD until 5pm Thursday, 1 April 2021.  This means they cannot attend work or come to school for this period.
  2. If a person has been to any of the close contact locations listed in the table on the dates and during the times listed must self-isolate for a period of 14 days from the time they attended the location.  This means they will not be able to attend work or school for the full 14 day period.
  3. If anyone has been to one of the casual contact locations at on the dates and during the times listed in the table they must get a COVID test and self isolate until they received a negative result.  That means they cannot attend work or school until they have received confirmation of their negative result.  Then they can return to their normal living arrangements.

If they have been in a designated hotspot site or are a close contact of someone who has, they should follow the Qld advice of 14 self-isolation. NB this is for the specific venues/locations: not the city itself. See preliminary advice extract below:

QLD/NSW border restrictions - NSW Health have advised border entry requirements have been implemented for people who are entering NSW on or after 12.01am, 27 March for people who have been in Brisbane City Council or Moreton Bay Regional Council since 11 March.  Anyone who has been in those areas must complete a self-declaration form either 24 hours before entering NSW or on entry.

People who have been in an
area of high concern (listed as ‘close contact venues’ on the Queensland Health website)

  • may only enter NSW if they are a NSW resident
  • may not transit through NSW
  • must immediately get tested and self-isolate

Byron Bay: The news of two confirmed cases having visited Byron Bay is currently being managed by NSW Health.

All staff and families should be monitoring the NSW Health website for updated information over the coming days.
