Religious education is provided to students of Years 7, 8 and 9 on Thursday and Friday each week.
Lessons are one period (approx. 60 minutes) in length. They are provided by a teacher who has been given authorisation to teach special religious education.
Religious Education is provided by Tweed Coast Christian Education Association, under the Presbyterian church as the organisation approved to provide Special Religious Education.
Parents in public schools have the right to have their children receive instructions in their religious persuasion, where authorised teachers of that persuasion are available. Parents may nominate an alternative persuasion, where special religious education cannot be offered for students of a particular religious persuasion, or for other reasons. Parents also have the right to choose not to have their children attend special religious education.
Students who do not attend special religious education will be given meaningful activities such as reading, private study and completing homework under the supervision of their teacher.
Students continue to be enrolled in the same arrangement as the previous year, unless a parent/caregiver has requested a change.
