Wellbeing
At our school, student wellbeing and learning go hand in hand. We want every student to feel safe, included and ready to learn. Whether your child needs help with their mental, emotional, social or physical wellbeing, we are here to help them thrive at school and in daily life.
How we support student wellbeing
Supporting each student’s mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing is part of everyday school life.
We do this through:
- teachers who help students feel welcome and included
- access to school counsellors, school psychologists and specialist staff
- programs that support health, social skills, attendance and positive behaviour
- help for students who are new or changing year levels
- clear expectations for behaviour and respectful relationships
- staff who get to know each child and work closely with families
- developing health care plans for students
- open communication about wellbeing and support.

The Wellbeing Hub
What is it the Wellbeing Hub?
The Wellbeing Hub is a room for all students who may need a safe place to talk about life, friendships, work, school, and/or family with a Student Support Office (SSO).
The hub is also a space to spend time doing activities at Recess and Luchtime.
What is a Student Support Officer?
A Student Support Officer is known as an SSO at Banora Point High School. They work in schools to enhance the wellbeing and learning outcomes of students. Their role is to support students and their families through their time at Banora Point High School. They work with students individually or in a group setting to address issues and concerns creating strategies to assist with overwhelm and stress.
They work along side the wellbeing team and school councelling service to promote the importance of health, wellbeing and positive relationships.
How can I see an SSO?
Students can be referred to the SSO by the Principal, Deputy Principal, School Nurse, School Councellor, teachers, parents and the students themselves.
Students are able to access the SSO at anytime during the school day by coming to the Wellbeing Hub.
